African Lily
Agapanthus is an ancient plant with a handful of common names - African Lily, Lily of the Nile, Blue African Lily and The Flower of Love among them. Native to South Africa, this lovely perennial flower produces globe shaped blooms in violet-blue, each composed of several smaller, star-shaped flowers. Similar to ornamental onion (allium) blooms, but looser and softer.
This plant can take plenty of heat, and will tolerate some shade - but it must have plenty of moisture and should not be allowed to dry out. Otherwise easy to grow, and very resistant to pests and disease.
