Cinnamon Fern

24-36' tall x 24-36 wide. Cinnamon Fern’s tall narrow spikes of cinnamon-colored spore-producing material reach up like giant cinnamon sticks from the center of the plant in spring - it’s easy to see where it gets its common name. Contrasting with the blue-green 4-foot fronds, this is an elegant and unusual fern. Plant it in partial to full shade, in humus-rich soil, where there is plenty of moisture. Excellent along a streamside or water garden. Lovely planted with Hosta, Coral Bells, Bleeding Heart, and other shade loving plants. Cut back old fronds after new growth begins in spring. Native to North America and deer resistant too.
